Mr. Raghunath Marie is a renowned Veena player, music composer, dancer, choreographer, actor and film maker. Born in Puducherry, and settled in France, Manet learnt dance and music under famous exponents of Indian classical music including M.S. Nathan and Ram Gopal. He has worked with great international artists such as Archie Shepp, Michel Portal, Didier Lockwood, Carolyn Carlson, Richard Galliano, Dr. Balamurali Krishna and famous drummer Sivamani. Mr. Raghunath Manet is the first Indian dancer to perform in famous ‘Opera de Paris’ for six house full performances; first Indian to perform in the ‘Monaco International Festival for the Dance Awards’ and first Indian to choreograph ‘Les pechurs de parles of Antoire Bourseiller at Opera Comique in France’. Mr. Manet in 1989 also founded a dance and music academy ‘Talc Shruti’ in Puducherry for under privileged children.

As an actor, Mr. Manet has featured in French feature film ‘Diamant Noir’ and ‘Le journal d’un seducteur’. He has also directed three films which included Dance of Shiva, Aathma, and Devadai. His film Dance of Shiva was presented in Cannes Film Festival in 2003. Recognizing his outstanding contribution in the field of art, the French Ministry of Culture awarded him with `Officer des Arts et des Lettres’ and Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres’. He was also awarded with Natya Shiromani, Natya Barani and Natya Nayadan by the Government of Puducherry for his achievements in music and dance. He has also received lndo-French Exchange Scholarship and Romain Rolland Fellowship from the French Ministry of Culture.
