Dr. Gorur Harinath is one of the leading figures in the Indian community in Sydney and is Chairperson of the Multi Culture Commission for New South Wales. He has been an ardent advocate for Indian culture and closer ties between India and Australia. He is currently Chairman of Parramasala and is a General Practitioner at the Eastgardens Medical Centre. He was the first person of Indian origin to become a Board member of Cricket Australia (2004) and Chairman of Cricket New South Wales (NSW). He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2008 for services to cricket and to the community.

Dr. Harinath has been actively involved in multicultural community affairs. He was also on the NSW State Committee for organisation of Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held in Sydney in November 2013. He has played an important role in starting the multicultural Festival –Parramasala.
