Odisha called the "Temple State of India," is famous for its exquisite temples, showcasing its cultural heritage. Home to iconic sites like the Konark Sun Temple, Puri's Jagannath Temple and Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Odisha attracts pilgrims and tourists from across the globe, blending spirituality with architectural marvels across its sacred landscapes.

To visit these sacred sites the Odisha Tourism Dept. has issued certain Dos & Dont’s along with the advisories to be followed by the Delegates of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, 2025.

Religious Advisory for Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri

DO'S

  • Follow the Queue System for hassle free darshan of Deities
  • Respect ancient customs and usages while at Shree Jagannatha Temple and promote religious sentiments among co-pilgrims.
  • Observe absolute silence inside the temple.
  • Deposit your offerings in the Hundi and Branch Office inside the temple premises.
  • Keep the premises of Shree Jagannatha Temple clean.
  • Bath and wear clean clothes before you enter the shrine.
  • Beware of Pickpocket and monkeys

DONT'S

  • Consume liquor or other intoxicants during Darshan of the Deities.
  • Eat non-vegetarian food.
  • Carry cooked food.
  • Encourage beggary.
  • Split or commit nuisance.
  • Wastewater.
  • Spit, urinate or defecate in the temple premises.
  • Footwear and leather items in and around the premises of the temple.
  • Carry umbrella, mobile telephone, electronic gadgets, leather items etc.

Religious Sites Advisory (Other than Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri)

DO'S

  • Follow the Queue System for hassle free darshan of Deities.
  • Respect ancient customs and usages in Temples and promote religious sentiments among co-pilgrims.
  • Observe absolute silence inside the temple.
  • Deposit your offerings if any in the Donation Box (Hundi) and Branch Office inside the temple premises.
  • Bathe and wear clean clothes before you enter the shrine.
  • Dress conservatively.

AVOID

  • Consumption of liquor or other intoxicants during darshan of the Deities.
  • Spit, urinate or defecate in the temple premises.
  • Footwear and leather items in and around the premises of the temple.
  • Mobile phones in Shree Lingaraj Temple.
  • Single use Plastic.
  • Littering inside the Temple premises.
